"Both teams have put in a great two weeks of training. I am really excited for this final test before we enter the championship phase of the season. We left Minnesota with a pretty clear understanding of what we need to do to race at our best and I believe this will be a huge step in that direction," said head coach Bryan Jackson.

The Islanders have won three Southland Conference Athlete of the Week awards in two meets this season. Freshman Mathayo Kiptoo Bundotich and graduate Dennis Kipngeno have won for the men, and sophomore Deandra Ibarra won for the women. Bundotich won the Rice Invitational on Sept. 8 in his first-ever collegiate meet.

The 2023 SLC Championships are slated for Friday, Oct. 27 on the campus of UIW.
