CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Continuing to build upon a program-best start, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's soccer team will play host to UTRGV Sunday evening in the South Texas Showdown presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union. The matchup is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Dr. Jack Dugan Soccer and Track & Field Stadium.

"I feel like we've grown a lot since our last game against UTRGV and I'd like to prove it," said head coach
Craig Shaw. "We've never gone 2-0 against them in the history of the program and that's a goal we've set for ourselves."

The Islanders lead the series 1-0 with a 4-3 victory at UTRGV's home turf in the second game of the season for both teams. A&M-Corpus Christi is aiming to sweep the Vaqueros for the first time in the history of the program.

Junior
Molly Arens sits tied for the most assists in NCAA Division I women's soccer at five, breaking the single-season program record. With one more assist, she will tie the career-high assists record and will break it with two.

Reaghan Lang, a graduate student, plans to increase her streak of most games played in after breaking the record last week at home against Texas State. Her time on the Island has led her to earn playing time within 74 matches thus far.

Numerous Islanders saw action and playing time this past week with freshman
Mai-Lisa Atis earning her first collegiate goal in the process. Classmate
Annabelle Hubbell O'Fallon saw her first minutes on the pitch as well, playing for 21 minutes and taking one shot in the effort.
The South Texas Showdown is a matchup between A&M-Corpus Christi and UTRGV in which the two schools compete head-to-head in sports both programs have for points in the matchup. The Islanders claimed the trophy last year.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with live stats to follow through the game.
