Golf Cards Best Round Tuesday to Finish Fourth at SHSU Remax Prime Properties Bearkat Invitational

Final Results

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Ending the tournament with its best score, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf program moved up a spot to place fourth out of 13 schools at the SHSU Remax Prime Properties Bearkat Invitational at the Bearkat Course.
 
The Islanders tallied a 297 Tuesday after submitting a 300 and 307 in their first two rounds Monday. It marked the second straight tournament where A&M-Corpus Christi registered its best score in the final round.
 
Junior Lucie Charbonnier and sophomore Reagan Gray both shot even par Tuesday with 71's. Charbonnier finished in eighth-place overall with a 220, while Gray ended in 10^th with a 222.
 
Also with a strong final round was senior Maria Beltran with a 74. She recorded a 229 for the tournament which was good for 23rd.
 
"We had very solid play from Lucie, Reagan and Maria today, with Lucie and Reagan both in the top-10 individuals. This team is again showing what they are capable of and we're looking forward to the NMSU event next week," said head coach Pat Stephens.
 
Rounding it out was junior Reese Drezins with a 235 and freshman Lucia Ramirez with a 238. Senior Lucy Martinez and freshman Elsa Tornvall competed as individuals; Martinez placed 22nd with a 228, while Tornvall etched a 239.
 
The fourth-place finish topped their placement from last year where they ended in sixth out of 14 teams.
 
The Islanders will be back in action next week when they travel to Las Cruces, New Mexico for the NMSU Aggie Invitational beginning Monday.
