Soccer Enters Conference Play On the Road Against Lamar

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's soccer team will open up conference play against Lamar on the road Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at the LU Soccer Complex.

"We're excited to play them again," said head coach Craig Shaw. "They're undefeated and predicted to be one of the top teams in the conference so we're excited to play them and test ourselves against the best."

After coming off of a three-game home stand, the Islanders will take to the road for the first time since August 21 when they defeated UTRGV 4-3. With a 3-2 record, A&M-Corpus Christi kicked off the season with a program-record 3-1 start, setting numerous other records along the way. The first was an eight-goal performance against Prairie View A&M at home in an 8-1 victory, the most goals scored in a game since last year against Texas Southern when they scored five.

Junior Molly Arens broke the single-season assist record at five and currently sits first in the conference and sixth in Division I women's soccer in the category. Teammate Reaghan Lang, a grad student, broke the career assists record earlier against Prairie View A&M, marking another milestone the Islanders have passed this season.

As a collective team, A&M-Corpus Christi sits eighth in the nation in scoring offense, averaging 3.20 goals per game, putting them atop the conference. They lead the conference in assists per game as well at 3.40 and are third in the nation in the category.

The game will be able to be followed through live stats starting at game time.
