CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's cross country programs released a six-meet schedule Wednesday afternoon highlighted by four meets in Texas.

"We can't wait to get the season started," said head coach
Brent Ericksen. "We're really looking forward to some of our end-of-the-year competition. We've never been out to Nicholls State before and that will be interesting. We're looking forward to having the NCAA South Central Regionals near College Station."

Cross country will kick off its season on the road at the Rice University Twilight Meet on September 9 in Houston before going to San Antonio the next month to compete at UIW on the first of October.

Two weeks after UIW, the team will travel to the Texas A&M Aggie Invite on October 15 for its final regular season meet. It will be scored for the South Texas Showdown presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union.

The Islanders will open up post-season competition at the Southland Conference Championships on October 28 being held in Thibodaux, Louisiana by Nicholls.

A&M-Corpus Christi will look to continue its post-season at the NCAA South Central Region Championships slated to be in College Station. The team will then set its sights on reaching the NCAA Championships hosted by Oklahoma State on November 20.

During the 2021 campaign,
Dennis Kipngeno, now a senior, ran at the NCAA Championships where he placed 110
th of 253 racers. He was one of three runners in school history to run in the meet.

The women's cross country team looks to become back-to-back winners of the Southland Conference Championships, earning the title last year en route to a 10
th place finish at the South Central Regional Championships.
