CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – After kicking off the season with a program-best 2-0 record, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's soccer team will host its first regular season match of the year against Texas State at the Dr. Jack Dugan Soccer and Track & Field Stadium at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

"I'm proud of them to start this way with both games on the road," said head coach
Craig Shaw. "Now we're coming home for two games and we're going to honor our performances last week with great performances this week."

The Islanders began their season on the road against Texas Southern where they prevailed for a 3-1 victory before heading down to face UTRGV on Sunday. While in the valley, A&M-Corpus Christi edged out UTRGV in the South Texas Showdown to take an early lead in the head-to-head matchup between the two teams.

Within a two-game span, the Islanders have scored seven shots, attempting 32 thus far on the season. Juniors
Reese Cross and
Maggie Murray both lead the way in goals with two apiece, also earning an assist each to collect a total of five points. Classmate
Molly Arens currently sits ahead of the team in assists, having helped out her teammates three times while getting one goal herself, tied for the third-most assists in all of Division I women's soccer.

Kennedy Stelling, a sophomore goalkeeper, has four saves accumulated for a .571 average on the season. Fellow sophomore
Emily Levy played one half for the Islanders during the campaign against Texas Southern.
The Islanders will host the Waves of Welcome Blue & Green Tailgate pregame to celebrate the home opener. The events will include an inflatable obstacle course, yard games, music and more starting at 6:00 p.m. inside the stadium.
