LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf head coach
Pat Stephens will be inducted into the Kentucky Golf Hall of Fame.

Stephens, the 2012 and 2016 Kentucky Senior Open champion, will be one of six inducted in the 2022 ceremony. Stephens won the Kentucky Senior PGA Professional Championship five times in six years, including four straight from 2011-14.

Stephens played in several PGA TOUR events earlier in his playing career including the 1998 U.S. Open.

"This recognition is very humbling," said Stephens. "I'm excited to go back home for the induction and see everyone. (Being inducted) was never on my radar, so seeing friends and colleagues who I haven't seen in a long time will make for an emotional night. I've started thinking about what I'll say during my speech, and I don't know yet. That's ironic to me because for so long I've asked my players before they hit a shot, 'What are you thinking here?' Now I'm the one doing that to myself."

Stephens played collegiately for Kentucky before transferring to Eastern Kentucky for his final two seasons. He won the Ohio Valley Conference title in 1982 and took second in 1983.

As a coach, Stephens was a four-time OVC Coach of the Year at Eastern Kentucky, where he worked from 1997-2018. Stephens led the Colonels to three OVC titles and appeared in the NCAA Championships three times.

Stephens arrived at A&M-Corpus Christi in Sept. 2018 and was promoted to head coach last season. He guided the Islanders to six top-five finishes out of seven tournaments in 2022 and coached two student-athletes to their first career individual wins. A&M-Corpus Christi won the PGA Works Collegiate Championship for the second year in a row.
