EUGENE, Ore. - Senior
Trpimir Siroki concluded his decathlon run at the NCAA Championships, finishing 17th in the nation in the event at Hayward Field.
"Siroki has had such a great season," said head coach
Brent Ericksen. " So many records and personal bests. Assistant Coach Donte Robinson has done a great job of guiding him through all of that. It's always special when your season ends at a national championship meet."
Siroki began the day in one of his strongest events, the 110m hurdles, and ran a time of 14.65s. The mark added 892 points to his total and positioned him in 11th place at 4,862 points.
He furthered competition by moving on to the discuss throw. In the event, Siroki threw a mark of 35.22m, earning 568 more points in the event.
Following the discuss, the lone Islander proceeded to the pole vault in which he propelled himself 4.71m into the air. The height was 11th among the competitors and earned 822 points.
The second-to-last event was the javelin throw in which he collected a mark of 48.80m for 571 points.
Siroki finished his competition in the 1500m run in which he ran a personal best time of 4:51.77 to add another 608 points to the total. He finished with a total of 7,431 points to place 17th at the NCAA Championships. His placement put him ahead of Power Five competitors from Kansas, Michigan State and Oregon among others.
His accomplishments throughout the season broke multiple school records, most notably in the decathlon at the Texas Relays in which he scored 7,838 points to break the Croatian National Record as well.
