PHILADELPHIA, Penn. - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf team separated itself from the pack to take sole possession of first-place after round two of the 2022 PGA Works Collegiate Championship at Union League Liberty Hill golf course on Tuesday.
After round one, the Islanders were tied for first with Delaware State but shot 296 a in round two to create a 16-stroke lead heading into the final day of the tournament.
Charbonnier, an All-Conference Second-Team selection, finds herself in first with a 149 total after two rounds. She went one under in round two for a 71, the best round of the day. This would mark Charbonnier's first career win.
Junior
Lucy Martinez shot even on the par-72 course. Martinez improved eight strokes from her first round to total a 152 and put herself fourth overall in the rankings.
Senior Kelli Dugan and freshman
Reagan Gray are separated by only one stroke. Dugan turns in a 155 total in the tournament for sixth place while Gray is at a 156 for a seventh place ranking.
Graduate student
Kellsey Sample improved by 11 strokes in round two to shoot a 76 compared to her round one score of an 87. This is Sample and Dugan's last collegiate event.
The final round of the tournament is set for Wednesday morning with the crowning ceremony to be held right after. This would be the second year in a row the golf wins the tournament.
The PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship is in its 35th year and features more than 30 teams representing Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic-serving institutions and other minority-serving institutions from across the nation.
