GULF SHORES, Ala. – Representing the school and the Southland Conference at the NCAA Tournament, the 15th-seeded Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball program will play second-seeded TCU at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the first round.

ESPNU will begin broadcasting the tournament at 10 a.m. Wednesday and all dual matches will also be streamed live on ESPN+. The first round of the NCAA Tournament is single elimination, but the eight teams that win will advance to a double elimination quarterfinal bracket Friday.

It will be the first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament for A&M-Corpus Christi (21-12), which earned an automatic bid after winning the Southland Conference Tournament. The Islanders were dominant in the league all season and went 11-0 against SLC opponents.

All five pairs for the Islanders earned SLC All-Conference honors. It included two on the First-Team, two on the Second-Team and one on the Third-Team. Additionally, head coach
Gayle Stammer was named the SLC Coach of the Year, becoming the first in program history.

The Islanders have already played TCU (38-3) twice this year, falling 5-0 on March 19 and 4-1 on April 9. Junior
Giuliana Poletti Corrales and sophomore
Brooke Pertuit picked up the win in the second matchup. At the SLC Championship, Poletti Corrales and Pertuit were distinguished as the SLC Pair of the Tournament. The duo finished the regular season ranked No. 12 in the country.

The winner between the Islanders and Horned Frogs will face the winner of Grand Canyon and Georgia State on Friday.
