Egan Recognized on All-Region Team

May 19, 2022

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Junior Pal Egan from the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball program was distinguished as an NFCA All-Region Third Team selection in the Central Region, announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Thursday.

Egan was one of 381 student-athletes from 152 programs to have received 2022 NFCA Division I All-Region accolades. This is the first time a member of the program has been honored with All-Region since 2011.

"We are extremely proud of Pal," said head coach Kathleen Rodriguez. "It is an honor to see one of our Islanders amongst the great student-athletes named to the All-Region teams. It is great to see Pal being recognized and rewarded for her hard work and dedication to our team and to the sport."

The Bakersfield, California native was the Southland Conference's Player and Hitter of the Year and was also tabbed to the All-Conference First Team. She led the conference in slugging percentage with a .794, on-base percentage at a .555, doubles (17) and home runs (12).

On the season, the outfielder registered 66 hits, 48 runs and 36 RBIs for 123 total bases. Egan was the only member of the team to start in all 52 games this season, allowing her to break the program's single-season record for her .426 batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, runs scored, total bases and stolen bases (27). She ended the year on a 29-game streak of reaching base.

The Islanders made their first appearance at the Southland Conference Tournament since 2015 and won two games, their first tournament win since 2012. Egan was named to the All-Tournament team after the Islanders finished fourth.

The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated student-athletes and voted for the teams. All awarded student-athletes now become eligible for the 2022 NFCA Division I All-America squads.
