Beach Volleyball Falls to Stiff Competition in Regular Season Finale at Unconquered Invitational at FSU

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – On the final day of the 2022 regular season, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball program came up short in 4-1 decisions to No. 15 FIU and No. 2 TCU in the Unconquered Invitational at FSU.
 
A&M-Corpus Christi concluded the regular season with an 18-12 record. Nine of their 12 losses were to ranked opponents.
 
In the first match of the morning against FIU, the Islanders garnered a victory on court four from junior Shea Slusser and freshman Kela Moreno. The duo defeated Gina Lipscomb and Emma Ertellova in straight sets 21-16, 21-13.
 
Against TCU, A&M-Corpus Christi was awarded a win on court one. The two-time reigning SLC Pair of the Week winners Giuliana Poletti Corrales and Brooke Pertuit dropped a tight first set 24-22 when TCU retired in the second.
 
Corrales and Pertuit, who won four SLC Pair of the Week awards total, went 22-8 on the year which included wins over TCU, LSU, Arizona, Florida State, UAB, Tulane, Southern Miss, Tampa, UL-Monroe, Stephen F. Austin, Abilene Christian, HBU, Nicholls, New Orleans and Southeastern.
 
The Islanders will now turn their attention to the 2022 Southland Conference Championship which is slated for April 22-24 in Houston, hosted by HBU.
