Islanders to Face Four Ranked Opponents at Unconquered Invitational at FSU

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – To conclude the 2022 regular season, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball program will be put to the test against No. 2 TCU, No. 4 Florida State, No. 15 FIU and No. 19 Stetson in the Unconquered Invitational at FSU.
 
The invitational begins Friday when A&M-Corpus Christi (18-8) plays the host FSU (19-5) at 10 a.m., followed by a 2:30 p.m. match against Stetson (12-12). On Saturday, the Islanders will square off with FIU (15-5) at 7 a.m. and close it out with a 10 a.m. match against TCU (28-1). All times are central.
 
The Islanders will be going for their first-ever win over a ranked opponent.
 
Expected to represent A&M-Corpus Christi on court one is junior Giuliana Poletti Corrales and sophomore Brooke Pertuit. The duo has won four SLC Pair of the Week awards this year and two in a row. The pair is 21-5 overall on the year and riding a nine-match winning-streak.
 
Second on the team in wins is sophomore Tori Johnson and freshman Jade Bennett with a 15-10 record, primarily on court two. The pair has won three of its last four matches including a 21-14, 21-14 straight-set win over HBU.
 
The pair of graduate Kiley Lewis and senior Migle Mazurkeviciute are 7-3 in their last 10 outings at court three. It includes victories over UL-Monroe, Tampa, HBU and Abilene Christian.
 
It will be the second meetings of the year against both FSU and TCU. Against the Seminoles on March 27, Poletti Corrales and Pertuit teamed for a 21-19, 21-18 victory on court one.
 
The 2022 SLC Championship is slated for April 22-24 in Houston, hosted by HBU.
