CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team will look for its fourth conference series win when they host Southeastern this weekend at Chapman Field.
Friday will feature a doubleheader between the Islanders (19-23, 7-5) and the Lady Lions (33-12, 10-2) beginning at 1 p.m. Game three is set for Saturday with a 12 p.m. first pitch. The games on Friday will be streamed on ESPN+ while the Saturday game can be watched on the Islanders Digital Network.
A&M-Corpus Christi has nabbed series wins over Northwestern State, HBU and Nicholls in conference play so far, placing them at fourth in the rankings with two weeks left of the regular season.
One win this weekend for the Islanders will give them their 20th win this season, the program's most wins since 2015. Two wins would surpass that total again, making this their winningest season since 2011.
Likely to start in the circle for A&M-Corpus Christi this weekend are freshman
Siarah Galvan and senior
Grace Gilbert. Galvan holds the lowest ERA on the team at a 2.60 with a 3-0 record, the only pitcher for the Islanders without a loss this season. Gilbert is the reigning two-time SLC Pitcher of the Week after throwing two complete-game shutouts and not allowing a run in her last four appearances.

She is on her way to breaking multiple program single-season records including her batting average, slugging percentage and on-base percentage. She has already broken the single-season record of stolen bases with 25 so far, previously set at 22.
Sophomore
Haley Morse and junior
Ashleigh Sgambelluri both record nine hits in conference play while junior

In conference play, the Islanders are 7-0 in homeruns and 24-6 in stolen bases against opposition. They have outscored their opponents 35-28 in the third inning and 18-9 in the seventh and have used 38 different lineups this season.
The Lady Lions are led by sophomore Came Goodman who is second in the conference with her .455 batting average. They are coming off a weekend series sweep at HBU and currently sit first in the conference rankings.
Southeastern leads the Islanders 15-19 in the all-time record while A&M-Corpus Christi leads 9-8 when the games have been played in Corpus Christi.
