SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi track & field team won nine events in an action-packed day at the UTSA Park West Athletic Complex.

Brent Ericksen. "We won nine events today so we just need to keep working hard!"

Senior
Erika Snyder began the day for the Islanders, taking home victory in the women's high jump with a leap of 1.64m. Fellow senior
Kiara Pickens was within the field events realm, bounding 5.71m in the long jump for a third-place finish.

On the men's side of the high jump, junior
Spencer Bigner led the way with second-place honors, putting up a mark of 1.90m.
Jamal Dawson, a freshman, tied for third in the event at 1.85m as freshman Noah Gonzales leaped 1.80m, earning fifth.

Sophomore
Sharon Kiprop furthered the winning ways for A&M-Corpus Christi in the women's 1500m, crossing the finish line at 4:46.53. Teammate
Valentina Campos, a graduate student, came in second behind her at 4:56.89.

Junior
Jasmine Perez earned second in the women's 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 12:06.23.

Freshman
Tranasia Jones and sophomore
Yasmine Steele came in 1-2 in the women's 400m dash with times of 55.92 and 57.26s, respectively. Another duo in
Faith Bett and
Riley Cowan, a senior and junior, went first and second in the women's 800m dash as Bett finished 2:17.36 and Cowan 2:21.50.

The Islanders continued to build off the momentum on the women's side as they finished 1-2-3 in the 100m dash with freshman
La Myia Styles leading the way with a 12.16s time. Freshmen
Bailey Cook (12.44s) and
Journi Williams (12.47s) rounded out the trio. Styles later went on to place second in the women's 200m dash, coming in at 24.86s.

The men saw a 1-2-3 finish in the 110m hurdles as senior
Ke'Tavion Humber, graduate student
Timor Barrett and senior
Daniel Armstrong came in that order. The times were clocked in at 14.11s, 14.42s and 14.66s, respectively, being the only finishers to earn a sub-15 second time.

John Moreno, a sophomore, claimed victory to add to the Islanders' total in the men's 400m dash with a time of 48.72s, beating second by 0.69s. Around the same distance, freshman
Jakob Gunter won the 800m dash as Keenen Lawrence, a senior, came in behind him with the two leaving behind times of 1:58.36 and 1:59.02, respectively.

Campos lead A&M-Corpus Christi in the women's 3K coming in 34 seconds ahead of second-place teammate senior
Alana Blankenship who had a time of 11:17.86. On the other side of the event for the men, freshman
Rogerio Gomez finished in 9:00.67 for second place.

A&M-Corpus Christi will travel back to San Antonio next weekend to the UIW Invite to be held on Friday afternoon.
