Islanders Conclude Weekend At Beach Invitational

LONG BEACH, Cal. - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi track and field program concluded its eventful weekend at the Beach Invitational on Saturday.

"Overall, it was a great opportunity to compete at tree separate meets and against hundreds of other schools," said head coach Brent Ericksen. "The majority of national marks are going to come from the meets here and I think it was great to give our team this kind of experience."

Senior Ke'Tavion Humber earned the highest finish of the day with third in the 110m hurdles, crossing the finish line with a mark of 13.99s. Today marked the second consecutive day he competed in a different event. Humber went on to place 20th in the 200m dash, running his way to a 21.78s time.

Trpimir Siroki, a senior, was the second Islander to compete in the 110m hurdles and came in with a time of 14.43s. He opted not to compete in the long jump after being slated to make the leap.

Senior Faith Bett had the second-highest finish on the team, making her mark in the women's 1500m run with a time of 4:37.67 for seventh place.

Preston Whaley, another senior, propelled himself 14.89m in the triple jump for 12th place in the event. The leap set a new school record for the Islanders, breaking the old record by 0.11m.

Graduate student Timor Barrett ran the men's 400m hurdles and bounded his way to a time of 54.29s. Sophomore Capri Wilson competed in the 200m dash to place 27th, sitting at a 24.78s time.

A&M-Corpus Christi will travel to Houston next Saturday for the Rice Invitational in the last meet before the Southland Conference Championships.
