CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - After being on the road since the middle of February, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team will return home to Chapman Field for six straight games beginning with a mid-week matchup against UTSA on Tuesday.

The Islanders (10-16) are set to take on the Roadrunners (8-17) at 3 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.

This marks the first game in over a week for the Islanders, with their most recent competition coming from the Texas Tech Tournament. Despite not getting a win in the tournament, junior Pal Egan turned in an impressive solo performance over the weekend recording three hits, two home runs and four RBIs. She leads the team across the board with a batting average of .370, a .712 slugging percentage and .511 on-base percentage and is one of two players who have started in every game this season.

Sophomore Kimane Rogron is the only other player to have started in every game and records a .234 batting average with 18 hits. She holds the longest streak of getting a hit on the team at 11 games.

Freshman Monee Montilla and sophomore Gabriella Torres both record two home runs each this season. Montilla has the second-highest slugging percentage on the team with a .485 with Torres right behind her at a .451.

The mound has been versatile with four pitchers being tied for a season-high of two wins. Freshman Denay Smith is one of the four and has thrown two complete games for a 5.61 ERA. Senior Grace Gilbert records two wins and one save with a 5.21 ERA while also striking out the most batters (25) in the circle.

As a team, A&M-Corpus-Christi leads the conference in doubles and walks. Nationally, the Islanders rank 14th in doubles, 30th in doubles per game and 21st in walks. Egan is seventh in the nation and second in the conference for doubles and first in the conference for total bases. Sophomore Sydney Hoyt is 13th in the nation and first in the conference for walks per game.

Under first-year head coach Kathleen Rodriguez, the season has seen 24 different batting orders and 19 different lineups. The Islanders are looking to remain undefeated at home (4-0) after doubleheader sweeps over Green Bay and Prairie View in February.

A&M-Corpus Christi is on a three-game winning streak against UTSA. The last meeting between the teams was in April 2021 which featured a 8-0 shutout for the Islanders over UTSA. Following this game, the Islanders will open conference play when they host McNeese in a three-game weekend series beginning on Friday.
