Islanders Set for SLC Conference Tournament Against A&M-Commerce

NATCHITOCHES, La. - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's soccer is set for a rematch against Texas A&M-Commerce at the Southland Conference Tournament on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m., hosted by Northwestern State at the Lady Demon Soccer Complex.

"We are excited for another opportunity to show everyone the fight, desire, and sisterhood this team has in the face of adversity," said head coach Craig Shaw.

The tournament appearance marks the fifth time in program history the Islanders have made it in ten years of play and the fourth consecutive year of playing for the SLC title. It continues a season that has been record-breaking for the Islanders with a few more records on the line.

The program shattered its prior single-season scoring record with 36 goals in the 2022 campaign, having had 24 in 2019 as the prior record. Their total 20 goals scored within conference play breaks the former high of 13 that happened in two seasons.

Sophomore Morgan Westbury sits just one goal away from tying the single-season record of 9, sitting at eight goals and three assists. Half of her goals have come from penalty kicks, which was once as high as the second-most in all of Division I women's soccer. She also sits one assist away from tying that single-season record as well.

Sitting just slightly behind Westbury in goals and points is classmate Megan Guy with seven and 15 respectively. Guy has made seven starts thus far on the season and has had three game-winning goals to lead the team to sit second for a career and tied for first in a single-season.

The matchup is scheduled to be streamed on ESPN+ with live stats to follow.
