Soccer Returns to Action at Home Against McNeese

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's soccer will host to McNeese on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Dr. Jack Dugan Soccer & Track Stadium.

"We've got to keep our focus," said head coach Craig Shaw. "McNeese is a very good team and they're going to come here full of confidence and we're going to have to be on top of our game and focused.,

The Islanders look to continue building momentum after defeating UIW 2-0 in their first shutout victory of the year. Through the prior five games, A&M-Corpus Christi went 4-1 with a three-game win streak starting against HCU to tie the longest win streak in program history.

A&M-Corpus Christi's defense has allowed 16 goals thus far this season, looking to break the previous record of only 22 allowed in a season. Last year the Islanders shut out the Cowgirls at home but fell to them later in the season on the road.

Junior Megan Guy remains a player to watch on the team, earning three game-winning goals this season to sit tied for first in program history for a single season. She has the second-most points scored on the team as well with 13, only behind sophomore Morgan Westbury at 14.

Morgan and Westbury have combined for both hat tricks for the team at one apiece. Both have also scored six each for 12 of the team's 27 on the season. Nine different players have gotten goals on the season with 15 unique athletes earning assists to sit 25th in the nation in the category.
