Soccer Takes to Road, Faces Southeastern and Nicholls

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's women's soccer team takes to the road this weekend to take on Southeastern and Nicholls on Friday and Sunday respectively.

"We've been talking about this as if it's a business trip," said head coach Craig Shaw. "It's the toughest trip of the year to go eight hours out to Southeastern and face Nicholls looking for their first conference win at home on Senior Day."

A&M-Corpus Christi will kick off the weekend Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Southeastern at the Southeastern Soccer Complex. The team will then head west to take on Nicholls at their home turf at the Nicholls Soccer Complex.

The Lions are coming off consecutive ties to UIW and Texas A&M-Commerce with both being road trips. The Colonels are looking for their first conference of the season.

Sophomore Morgan Westbury has scored in each of the team's last two games, both on penalty kicks to bring her total to four penalty kick goals on the season. The mark puts her tied for the best percentage in the nation at 1.000 in addition to having taken the second-most attempts in Division I women's soccer.

As a team, the Islanders sit 23rd in the nation in scoring offense and first in the conference, averaging 2.33 goals per game. They are 22nd in points per game with about 6.83. The team broke the program's single-season scoring record, previously at 24, now with 28 in the 2022 campaign.

Friday's game against Southeastern will be streamed on ESPN+ while both games will have live stats to follow.
