LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi track & field programs finished the Texas Tech Invite strong with three top-10 finishes in as many events at the Sports Performance Center.

Trpimir Siroki did over the last two days," said head coach
Brent Ericksen. "That's a performance that has always qualified for the Indoor National Championship meet. It's not a guarantee, but I would be surprised if that mark doesn't hold up."
Siroki worked his way to a fifth-place finish in the men's heptathlon after the last three events held today. He began the day by outright winning the men's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.11s before finishing fourth in the pole vault, launching himself 4.85m off the ground. Siroki closed the day with a time of 3:08.18 in the 1000m run where he placed 13th.
Valentina Campos, a graduate student, continued the string of high finishes by coming in fourth in the women's 3000m run with a time of 10:53.00. Senior
Alana Blankenship came in 11th in the event, posting 11:38.33 in the run.
With long distance still in mind, Graduate Student
Quin Johnson and Junior
Jasmine Perez came out to run the women's mile. Johnson earned seventh-place by running 5:14.27 as Perez came in 16th with a time of 5:30.32.
Tristan Stellmach, another graduate student, ran a 4:19.00 on the men's side of the mile to finish ninth in the event.
In the 800m run, Junior
Riley Cowan posted a 16th place finish with a time of 2:23.53. On the men's side of the event, Senior
Keenan Lawrence (1:56.18) and Freshman
Jakob Gunter (1:58.05) finished 10th and 17th respectively.
Islanders crowded the 200m on both sides with six women and five men running the event. Sophomore
Capri Wilson led the women's side of the event with a 43rd place finish and a time of 25.38s with Freshman
La Myia Styles behind her in 55th, running 25.99s. Sophomore
Yasmine Steele (26.08) earned a 60th place finish, followed closely by Freshman
Bailey Cook (26.17s) in 64th. The final two runners, both freshmen,
Journi Williams (26.26s) and Transia Jones (26.31s) finished 68th and 71st respectively.
On the men's side fo the event, Graduate Student
Timor Barrett ran a quick 21.79 to place 27th in the event. Senior
Ke'Tavion Humber was just over the 22 second mark, finishing with a time of 22.03s to earn 37th.
Deon McIver, a sophomore, (22.56s) ran his way to 55th as Senior
Daniel Armstrong (22.68s) came in 57th. Sophomore
John Moreno rounded out the event, coming in 63rd with a time of 22.90s.
To finish out the day, the women's 4x400m ran a 4:07.62 to finish in 20th place. The team was comprised of Jones, Cowan, Steele and Wilson.
The track & field team will take the next weekend off to recoup before returning to Lubbock, Texas for the Texas Tech Shootout Feb. 11-12, starting at 9:00 a.m.
