CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas –
In what will be the team's final home games in over a month, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's soccer program will host Southeastern at 7 p.m. Friday and Nicholls at 1 p.m. Sunday at Dugan Stadium.

It was originally scheduled to be a road weekend for the Islanders (3-5-1, 1-1-1 SLC) at Southeastern (2-5, 1-2 SLC) and Nicholls (0-7, 0-3 SLC) but were flipped to home games due to Hurricane Ida. The Lady Lions are the defending Southland Tournament champions.

A&M-Corpus Christi will wrap-up a four-game home stand. Last weekend, the team split a pair of matches by beating McNeese 1-0 but falling to Northwestern State 4-0. The weekend was highlighted by a game-winning goal by sophomore Maggie Murray early in the first half against the Cowgirls.

"Playing last year's tournament champions will be a great chance to see if we learned from last weekend. Then performing on Sunday's has been a problem we are determined to fix," said head coach Craig Shaw.

Junior Samantha Palomino leads the team and ranks second in the conference with four goals on the year. Senior Reaghan Lang ranks eighth in the league with two goals.

Defensively, sophomore Emma Herrera and freshman Emma Crump have emerged as staples to the back line. The two center backs have logged team-highs of 826 and 751 minutes, respectively. Junior Jayden Rea and sophomore Reese Cross have started in all nine games as defenders.

In net, sophomore Kennedy Stelling has started in all three conference games and eight times overall. She's made 54 saves on the year and has posted a pair of shutouts.

Southeastern is coming off a 2-0 victory over HBU. The Lady Lions also have an 11-0 win over Alcorn State on their resume. Junior forward Makenzie Maher leads the team with three goals on the year.

The Islanders are 2-1-1 all-time against SLU at home. Last season on the road, the Lady Lions walked away with a 3-1 win.

Nicholls is looking to turn its season around this weekend and will first head to UIW on Friday. Junior forward Kaitlyn Poirrier scored the team's lone goal on the year. The Colonels are looking for their first win since Sept. 13, 2019, and their first SLC victory since Oct. 14, 2018.

The Islanders are 2-0-1 in their last three games against Nicholls.

The games can be watched live for free on the Islanders Digital Network with Steven King on the calls.
