CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas –
Kicking off a four-game home stand, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's soccer program will host McNeese at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Northwestern State at 1 p.m. Sunday at Dugan Stadium.

The Islanders (2-4-1, 0-0-1 SLC) opened Southland action last weekend with a 1-1 tie against HBU after two overtimes. It included a game-tying goal by junior Samantha Palomino in the 72nd minute with assists to senior Reaghan Lang and sophomore Emma Herrera.

A&M-Corpus Christi will be going up against McNeese and Northwestern State squads that are both 2-0 in conference.

"This is a big weekend playing against the top two teams in the conference," said head coach Craig Shaw. "I'm looking for my young team to learn from last weekend and rebound with back-to-back good performances."

The game against the Cowgirls will feature the two leading goal scorers in the conference. Palomino and McNeese's Havana Johnson have scored four goals apiece to lead the league. They also rank No. 1 and 2 in shots on goal as Johnson has fired 13 and Palomino 11.

Also with goals this year for A&M-Corpus Christi are Lang with a pair and freshman Megan Guy with one. Six different Islanders have dished out at least one assist.

A&M-Corpus Christi has flipped between two different goalkeepers but sophomore Kennedy Stelling has taken the bulk of the duties. She's made 36 saves in six games, while freshman Emily Levy has blocked nine saves in two games.

McNeese is 5-2-1 overall, which includes a whopping 13-0 win over Alcorn State. The Cowgirls beat Nicholls 2-0 and Southeastern 1-0 last weekend.

The Islanders are 4-3-1 all-time against McNeese and have won the last two meetings, including a 3-0 result in the spring.

Northwestern State is 2-3-2 overall. The Lady Demons defeated the same teams as the Cowgirls, which included a 1-0 victory over SLU and 4-0 over Nicholls. NSU swept the SLC weekly awards on Tuesday with Olivia Draguicevich winning Offensive, Natalee Henry winning Defensive and Acelya Aydogmus winning Goalkeeper of the Week.

The Islanders are 3-1-1 in their last five meetings against the Lady Demons. The two teams tied 0-0 after two overtimes in the spring.
