CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas –
Senior Reaghan Lang struck twice to highlight a 3-0 victory for the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's soccer over Texas A&M-International in a friendly Thursday at Dugan Stadium.

Lang, from Fort Collins, Colorado, put the Islanders on the board in the 26th minute. The play started with a shot from the left by freshman Megan Guy. After a save by the goalkeeper, Guy got her own rebound and was able to foot it over to Lang who put-on the finishing touch with a lob over the keeper's head.

Lang increased the lead to 2-0 in the 80th minute. Junior Samantha Palomino sent in a centering cross from the far right side and found Lang making a run through the middle of the box and fired it into the left side of the net.

The final tally came just a minute later. Similar to the second goal, junior Josie Fountain centered a pass from the right and sophomore Molly Arens controlled it at the top of the box and angled a shot into the bottom left corner of the goal.

"It was a good win, but the result was not the important thing, it was building on what we did at Baylor for longer periods. We did that. Next, we need to stay focused and build more," said head coach Craig Shaw. "All that matters now is Sunday."

The Islanders outshot the Dustdevils 19-5 and held a 10-3 edge in corner kicks.

Lang, Guy and Arens recorded three shots apiece. Also with shots in the contest were Palomino, junior Maddie Janolo, sophomore Reese Cross, sophomore Natalie Gonzalez and freshmen Gracie Gill, Carmen Cervantez and Storm Harris.

Freshmen Emily Levy and Zoe Theriot each played a half in net. Levy got the start and earned the win, while Theriot came in to make a pair of saves in the second.

Defenders Emma Herrera and Alana Mangan logged a team-high 78 and 77 minutes, respectively.

It marked the second straight season that A&M-Corpus Christi shutout TAMIU after a 4-0 win in the regular season this past spring.

The Islanders will kick-off the regular season Sunday when they host Texas Southern at 1 p.m. at Dugan Stadium. A&M-Corpus Christi is 3-0 all-time against TSU with the last meeting coming as a 5-0 victory in 2019.
