May 29, 2021

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Leonardo Ledgister punched his ticket to the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a spectacular runner-up finish in the 400-meter hurdles Saturday at E.B. Cushing Stadium.

Ledgister blew to a personal and school record-breaking time of 48.79 for the silver finish and claim an automatic qualifier bid to compete on the national stage in June. The time also met the Olympic automatic standard.

"Another amazing performance for Leo," said head coach Brent Ericksen. "He came back and fought all the way to the finish for a stellar performance."

His previous career-best of 49.23 earned him a gold medal at the Southland Conference Championships on May 16.

Ledgister heads to the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships taking place in Eugene, Oregon on June 9-12.
