SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi outdoor track & field placed in the top three in four relay events, including a title in the men's 4x400, to headline a strong second day Saturday at the UIW Invitational.
The Islanders claimed gold, silver and bronze across the men's and women's 4x100 and 4x400 relay events, as the men's quartet of
Ke'Tavion Humber,
Keenan Lawrence,
Timor Barrett and
Leonardo Ledgister punctuated the group with the Islanders' lone first-place finish on day two with a 3:10.43 time that ranks second in program history.
Silver honors went to the women's 4x100 team of
Capri Wilson,
Jadyn Wagner,
Larissa Manciaz and
Sierra Pruitt with a 47.15 time while the men's 4x100 squad of
Deon McIver, Barrett, Ledgister and Humber landed third clocking a 41.22 mark that's good for third all-time as well. Rounding out the impressive relay finishes, the women's 4x400 team of Wagner, Manciaz,
Makalah Griffin and
Yasmine Steele nabbed the Islanders' second bronze with a 3:54.13 race that's good for 10
th all-time outdoors.
Both the men and women sported second-place individual finishes, as
Capri Wilson (12.01) took runner-up honors in the 100-meter while Zach Seaman's 1.95m high jump and Humber's 14.27 110-meter hurdles earned themselves a silver distinction.
Steele (58.16) and Griffin (60.36) crossed the line back-to-back in the women's 400-meter for fourth and fifth, respectively.
Rounding out the top-five finishers,
Michael Bailey set a career-high and claimed third with his 13.91m leap in the men's triple jump.
