AUSTIN, Texas – Playing its third ranked opponent from the Big 12, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball program will head to Red & Charline McCombs Field to take-on the 10th-ranked Texas Longhorns on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

A&M-Corpus Christi (7-8) has already played No. 11 Oklahoma State twice and No. 23 Iowa State. Most recently, the Islanders held three leads over the Cyclones on Saturday before the ISU broke through late for a 6-3 decision.

Sophomore
Pal Egan has reached base safely in all 15 games this year. She's hitting for a team-high .316 average and .509 on-base percentage. This past weekend, Egan notched a .500 (7-14) average over five games at the UT Arlington Invitational.

Egan is one of four Islanders to start in every game this season along with junior
Tiler Noyola and sophomores
Ashleigh Sgambelluri and
Sammi Thomas. Despite those four being staples to the batting order, A&M-Corpus Chrisi has used 15 different lineups in 15 games this season.

Freshman
Alexandria Torres has come on strong recently and is on a four-game hitting streak, all of which came over the weekend at the UTA Invitational. She hoists a .400 batting average and .526 on-base percentage in six starts.

In the circle, sophomore
Beatriz Lara has led the team with a 4-1 record. She carries a team-best 2.94 ERA and has thrown two complete games in six starts. Lara has wins this year over UT Arlington, UTSA, Tarleton State and Texas Southern.

A&M-Corpus Christi has outscored the opposition 15-10 in the first inning and 9-1 in the seventh inning. The Islanders are a perfect 6-0 on the year when leading after four innings.

The Longhorns (10-2) started the season 10-0 before dropping the last two in a three-game series at No. 13 LSU over the weekend. Texas has wins this year over Mississippi State, Ole Miss, UConn and Houston.

Texas has cranked 20 homers in 12 games including six from both Shannon Rhodes and Mary Iakopo. The Longhorns hit for a .350 batting average as a team and are led by Jordyn Whitaker's .417 average. Texas has outscored the opposition 82-29 on the year.

The Islanders are going for their fourth victory in school history over the Longhorns and the first since 2010 when they won 8-4. It will be the 35th meeting all-time between the two programs.
