CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Continuing its home stand, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer program will look to respond this weekend when it hosts Stephen F. Austin at 7 p.m. Friday and Sam Houston at 1 p.m. Sunday.

A&M-Corpus Christi (3-5-2, 2-3-1 SLC) was edged in a pair of one goal games last weekend. The highlight for the Islanders was a goal off a set pieces play by senior
Larissa Fagundes in the second half Sunday against Abilene Christian.

"This week has been about belief and confidence. We are better than last week's results showed, and this weekend is about ourselves, getting back to our style and showing what we really can do," said head coach
Craig Shaw.

The Islanders have had six different goal scorers this season. Senior
Abby Deakin and freshman
Maggie Murray have tallied three apiece, while Fagundes and freshman
Olivia Alvarez each have a pair. Deakin leads the team with 20 shots, including 15 on goal.

Senior
Celia Hilsabeck also has a goal on her resume and has logged a team-high 757 minutes. She's one of two Islanders to start in all 10 games along with Murray.

In net,
Kyleigh Hall has made seven consecutive starts and has made 38 saves. She allows less than a goal per game (0.97 GAA) and has three shutouts on the year.

SFA (6-4-2, 4-2 SLC) started the season hot by winning its first four conference games but has since fallen on the road to Southeastern Louisiana 2-1 and Northwestern State 3-1. Carli Arthurs is a big scoring threat and has netted six goals this year.

A&M-Corpus Christi won the last meeting over the Ladyjacks 3-0 on the road on Sept. 27, 2019. It was the first win over SFA in program history. The last game in Corpus Christi ended in a 0-0 tie on Sept. 23, 2018.

Sam Houston (1-4-1, 1-4-1 SLC) is looking to snap a three-game skid after falling to Central Arkansas 4-2, Incarnate Word 3-2 and Abilene Christian 2-0. Prior to that, the Bearkats defeated Nicholls 4-0.

The Islanders tied SHSU 1-1 on the road in the last meeting on Sept. 29, 2019. In the last meeting in Corpus Christi, the Islanders won 1-0 in overtime on Sept. 21, 2018. It was the program's first-ever victory against the Bearkats.

The Islanders are in the midst of a seven-game home stand, the longest in program history.
