SAN MARCOS, Texas – An addition was made to the weekly calendar for the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball program as it will head to Texas State for a 1 p.m. first pitch at the Bobcat Softball Stadium.

A&M-Corpus Christi (9-10, 2-1 SLC) will look to carry momentum into the game after winning a three-game series against Sam Houston over the weekend in the Southland Conference opener. Though, in the opposite dugout will be a Texas State (14-3, 0-0 SBC) squad that's riding a seven-game winning-streak.

Over the weekend, sophomore
Beatriz Lara threw two complete-games and earned two wins with a 2-0 ERA. She was one of two SLC Player of the Week Honorable Mentions along with sophomore
Sammi Thomas who hit for a .571 average, .700 on-base percentage and 1.429 slugging with two doubles, two triples and seven RBIs.

Sophomore
Pal Egan leads the team on the season with a .306 average and .485 on-base percentage. She started the year by reaching base safely in the first 17 games.

A&M-Corpus Christi has four student-athletes who have started in all 19 games this year including Thomas, Egan, junior
Tiler Noyola and sophomore
Ashleigh Sgambelluri. Thomas has ripped a team-high 21 RBIs with a .603 slugging percentage and is on a four-game hitting streak. Though, despite those four starting every game, the Islanders have used 19 different lineups in 19 contests.

In the circle, Lara sports a 6-1 record with a 2.61 ERA. She's thrown a team-high 51.0 innings and has tossed four complete-games in eight starts. Lara has wins this year over UT Arlington, UTSA, Tarleton State, Texas Southern and Sam Houston.

A&M-Corpus Christi has outscored the opposition 12-1 in the seventh inning this year. The Islanders are a perfect 7-0 on the year when leading after four innings.

The Islanders have played four games against ranked opponents this year. They held three leads against No. 23 Iowa State on March 6, and then brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh inning against No. 10 Texas on March 10. They also played No. 11 Oklahoma State twice.

The Bobcats are receiving votes in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Top-25 Poll. They have wins this year over No. 16 Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, BYU, Houston and UTSA.

Texas State is 12-1 at home. Sara Vanderford has started all 17 games and leads the team with a .477 average and .955 slugging with four homers and 19 RBIs.

The Islanders and Bobcats used to be Southland Conference rivals before Texas State departed the league after the 2012 season to go to the WAC. The Bobcats are now in the Sun Belt Conference.
