CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas –
Unbeaten in its last three appearances, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer program will host a home weekend against Incarnate Word at 7 p.m. Friday and Abilene Christian at 1 p.m. Sunday at Dugan Stadium.

"This is the real test of the season. We play two of the top-four teams from last year in one weekend. They should be fun and intense games," said Craig Shaw.

A&M-Corpus Christi (3-3-2, 2-1-1 SLC) is coming off a 4-1 victory over Central Arkansas. It came after a 0-0 tie against Northwestern State and a 3-0 win at McNeese. The Islanders are halfway to their longest unbeaten streak in school history of six games, set two times.

Half of A&M-Corpus Christi's games this year have been shutouts. Senior goalkeeper Kyleigh Hall has three shutouts toward her record, while freshman Kennedy Stelling has one.

Offensively, six different Islanders have scored a goal. Senior Abby Deakin and freshman Maggie Murray who scored three apiece, while freshman Olivia Alvarez has knocked in a pair. Deakin has fired a team-high 16 shots.

Senior Celia Hilsabeck also has a goal on her resume and has logged a team-high 629 minutes. She's one of two Islanders to start in all eight games along with Murray.

On the back line, freshman Reese Cross is the reigning SLC Defensive Player of the Week winner. It came after she registered her first career goal against UCA on a deep shot from about 25 yards it. It put the Islanders on the board 1-0 and turned out to be the game winner.

UIW (2-3-1, 1-2-1 SLC) is coming off a home weekend where it tied McNeese 1-1 before falling to Lamar 2-1. The Cardinals opened conference play with a 4-0 victory over Houston Baptist. Eve Clarkson, Keeley Ayala and Sophie Krall have all scored two goals apiece to lead the team.

The Islanders are 3-4-1 all-time against UIW. The last meeting came in the 2019 SLC Championships where A&M-Corpus Christi advanced 4-2 in penalty kicks after a 2-2 tie.

ACU (5-4-1, 1-2 SLC) played the same teams as UIW last weekend. It fell to Lamar 2-1 before beating McNeese 1-0. The Wildcats also have a 3-2 non-conference win over Texas State on their slate. Christina Arteaga has started all 10 games and has notched three goals, an assist and a team-high 43 shots.

A&M-Corpus Christi is 2-3-1 all-time vs. ACU but won the last meeting 2-1 in 2019 at home.

The Islanders are in the midst of a seven-game home stand, the longest in program history.
