Kingsville Uses Late Rally to Edge Islanders

KINGSVILLE, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi surrendered three back-breaking points to help the Javelinas turn the tide and complete the 3-2 comeback on their home court Wednesday afternoon at the Javelina Beach Volleyball Courts.

No. 4 duo Taylor Horsfall and Emily Ramirez notched the Islanders' first point in a 21-14, 21-16 rout before No. 5 Aurora Carnes and Demi McInnis stretched the lead to 2-0 behind a thrilling 22-20, 18-21, 15-10 victory.

Momentum shifted to the home club after Kingsville bagged the No. 3 point against Mary Dodge and Micaela Mirabal to half the Islanders' edge 2-1, while No. 1 Giuliana Poletti Corrales and Brooke Pertuit fell 21-16, 21-18 to deadlock it two-all with a point remaining.

The deciding point came down to a third set, as Kingsville sealed the come-from-behind win with a 19-21, 21-14, 15-12 final over No. 2 Kylie Kvam and Brooke Adkisson.

Beach volleyball visits Louisiana for a clash with Tulane on Friday, March 19.
