EDINBURG, Texas – In soccer's second installment of the South Texas Showdown, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will head to UTRGV for a 6 p.m. game Wednesday at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.

The showdown, an all-sports competition between A&M-Corpus Christi and UTRGV, is presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union. As an institution, the Islanders lead the series 3-1.

The Islanders (0-2) will look to avenge a 2-1 overtime defeat in the first meeting this year. A&M-Corpus Christi trailed 1-0 at half when freshman
Maggie Murray tallied the equalizer in the 55th minute. Though, UTRGV (2-0) was able to escape with an overtime goal in the 96th minute.

In the team's last outing, the Islanders played their first road game but fell to UTSA 2-0 in a physical battle. A&M-Corpus Christi registered four shots in the contest from seniors

Kennedy Stelling has made both starts in net has made nine saves on the season.

"We are really excited to test ourselves again against a program where they have been building four years longer than us and with more resources. The gap is closing each game. I feel Wednesday is our time to shine," said head coach

The Vaqueros are coming off a 1-0 shutout over Incarnate Word on Sunday. The goal came early on a tally by Gina Steiner in the eighth minute.

A&M-Corpus Christi will look to win on the road at UTRGV for the second consecutive year after beating the Vaqueros 1-0 last year. It was the first win over UTRGV in program history.

It will be the only game of the week for the Islanders since their game Friday at Abilene Christian was postponed to March 5.
