CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – A new era will begin in February when the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball program kicks off the 2022 campaign under first-year head coach

The season begins Friday, Feb. 11 when the Islanders head to College Station for three games in the Texas A&M Tournament. The Islanders will play their home opener Tuesday, Feb. 15 when they host Wisconsin-Green Bay in a doubleheader at Chapman Field.

A&M-Corpus Christi will host seven institutions at Chapman Field including Green Bay, Prairie View A&M, UTSA, McNeese, Texas Southern, Northwestern State and Southeastern. The Islanders will travel for conference series' at HBU, Nicholls and UIW.

In addition to Texas A&M, the Islanders will play in tournaments hosted by Tarleton State, Houston and Texas Tech. Notable non-conference opponents include dates with Syracuse, Baylor, Tulsa, Texas Tech and UL-Lafayette. The Ragin' Cajuns finished last year ranked No. 22, while the Aggies were receiving votes.

"We are excited about and looking forward to 2022. We have a challenging preseason schedule that will allow for great competition as well as preparation for our Southland Conference opponents later in the season," Rodriguez said.

The 2022 SLC Tournament will be played on May 10-13 in Hammond, Louisiana, hosted by Southeastern.
