CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf program announced the signing of Lucia Ramirez to the 2022-23 squad.

Ramirez will join the program from Barquisimeto, Venezuela where she was a member of the 2021 National Team at the SouthAmerican Junior Golf Championship.

"I chose Texas A&M-Corpus Christi because it offered everything I wanted for my future. With a great kinesiology program and a good graduation rate, it fit perfectly with what I was looking for, plus the university really supports Hispanic and international students to fit in. Lastly, the university offers me an amazing golf facility where I can continue to work on my game," Ramirez said.

Ramirez won two tournaments in 2021 including the Barquisimeto Open and the Pro Am Valle. She also was runner-up at the South Florida Jr. PGA Tour Labor Day Classic and the HJGT Madison Green Junior Open. Her low round was a 70 at Barquisimeto.

Ramirez also won the South American Championship in 2020 with a low round of 70. It came after a second-place showing at the FVG Junior Tournament Valle in Caracas, Venezuela.

Lucia's current scoring average is 74.67, and she has had multiple rounds at even and below par. Lucia impressed me with her dedication and passion for the game, as well as the goals she has set for herself. She is a coachable player with an inner strength and determination that will serve her well in golf and in life, and I am looking forward to seeing the impact she will make here at A&M-Corpus Christi," said head coach

Ramirez attended Champagnat High School and played 11 years of prep at Barquisimeto Golf Club.
