CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas –
Playing on its home field, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's soccer program will host Southeastern in the quarterfinals of the SLC Championship on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Dugan Stadium.

The fourth-seeded Islanders (7-10-1, 5-6-1 SLC) and the fifth-seeded Lady Lions (6-8-3, 4-5-3 SLC) will be the final match of day one at Dugan Stadium. Earlier matches feature McNeese against Nicholls at 1 p.m. and UIW vs. HBU at 4 p.m.

A&M-Corpus Christi is hosting the conference tournament for the third time in program history after doing so in back-to-back years in 2016 and 2017. The Islanders are looking to win the tournament for the first time ever.

The Lady Lions are the defending SLC Tournament champions.

"We are the youngest team in the tournament, so the pressure is on all the other teams who have brought back numerous fifth-year seniors. We will go out there with no fear and take it to them all," said head coach Craig Shaw.

The Islanders won the regular season series over SLU 1-0-1. In the first meeting, the game ended in a 1-1 tie in Corpus Christi. Freshman Megan Guy scored in the 11th minute, but SLU evened it in the 56th on a score by Makenzie Maher. In Hammond, A&M-Corpus Christi won 1-0 on a header in the 45th minute by freshman Emma Crump.

Crump went on to become one of four SLC All-Conference selections for the Islanders. She was named to the Second-Team along with junior Samantha Palomino. Senior Reaghan Lang and sophomore Maggie Murray were named to the Third-Team.

Palomino was one of four Islanders to start in all 18 games along with junior Emma Gibbs, sophomore Reese Cross and sophomore Emma Herrera. Freshman Emily Levy is expected to get the start in goal after posting three shutouts in eight starts.

SLU enters the tournament after defeating Nicholls 4-0. The Lady Lions landed five All-Conference selections in Megan Gordon, Mya Guillory, Ellie Williams, Nadine Maher and Garby Gillette. Gordon was tabbed the SLC Midfielder of the Year, while Guillory led the team with five goals and five assists.

The winner of the A&M-Corpus Christi vs. SLU match will advance to the semifinals to play top-seeded Northwestern State at 7 p.m. Friday. All matches from the tournament will be streamed on ESPN+.
