TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The final race of the season occurs Saturday when junior
Dennis Kipngeno from the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's cross country program competes in the NCAA Championship, hosted by Florida State at Apalachee Regional Park.

The 10K race will begin at 10:10 a.m. (CT) and can be watched live on ESPNU.

Kipngeno will be competing in a field of 253 student-athletes and is one of two from the Southland Conference including Bradley Makuvire from Southeastern. Kipngeno will wear bib number 853.

The Nakuru, Kenya native is the first Islander to make it to the final stage since Patrick Kimeli in 2011. He's just the third male to ever compete along with All-American Shadrack Songok in 2006 and 2007.

Kipngeno qualified after running a 10K time of 31:05.1 at NCAA South Central Regionals, hosted by Baylor. He was named to the 2021 All-Conference First-Team after clocking in at 24:41.33 in the 8K at the SLC Championship, which was good for fourth-place.

The highest an A&M-Corpus Christi student-athlete has ever finished at the NCAA Finals is seventh-place by Songok in 2007 with a time of 29:50.1.
