Both Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Teams Place 10th at NCAA South Central Regional Championships

WACO, Texas –
The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's & women's cross country programs finished in 10th-place apiece at the 2021 NCAA South Central Regional Championships on Friday at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course.
 
The top individual finishers came from the men. In their only 10K race of the season, junior Dennis Kipngeno and freshman Kelvin Kamaiyo ended in 13th and 14th, respectively. Kipngeno clocked in at 31:05.1 and Kimaiyo, the Southland Freshman of the Year, at 31:08.7.
 
Graduate Tristan Stellmach wrapped-up his cross country career with a 32:45.4, which was good for 53rd.
 
For the women, senior Faith Bett led the way with a 36th-place time of 21:50.2 in the 6K. It was an improvement from her 21:54.40 at the SLC Championship which got her sixth-place and an All-Conference Second-Team nod.
 
Senior Quin Johnson, an All-Conference Second-Team selection, was A&M-Corpus Christi's second finisher with a 22:19.8 to end in 56th. Not far behind were All-Conference Third-Team honorees Sharon Kiprop and Valentina Campos. Kiprop timed-in at 22:35.9 and Campos 22:47.1.
 
The women won the 2021 SLC Championship on Oct. 29 on its home course. It was the sixth SLC Championship in program history.
