The A&M-Corpus Christi women won the 2021 Southland Conference Championship, their sixth title in conference history. They'll be sending their entire squad of Faith Bett, Alana Blankenship, Valentina Campos, Cambria Clark, Quin Johnson, Sharon Kiprop and Jasmine Perez.

More than half the team earned All-Conference honors. Bett and Johnson were honored on the Second-Team, while Campos and Kiprop were distinguished on the Third-Team.

The men placed third at the conference meet and were one point out of second. They'll be represented by their top-seven finishers Kelvin Kimaiyo, Dennis Kipngeno, Tristan Stellmach, Juan Salinas III, Hunter Haas, Boaz Ronoh and Rogerio Gomez.

Kimaiyo was the runner-up in the conference and won SLC Freshman of the Year. He and Kipngeno were tabbed to the All-Conference First-Team, while Stellmach notched Third-Team accolades.

The South Central Regionals are the second-to-last stop for the Islanders. Those that qualify will compete in the 2021 NCAA Cross Country Championships, which will take place at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla., on Nov. 20.

The last Islander to make it to the NCAA Championships was Allyson Girard in 2018. Anne Ronoh made it there in 2008 and 2009. Two men have also competed for the Islanders at the NCAA Championships in program history; All-American Shadrack Songok was there in back-to-back years in 2006 and 2007, and Patrick Kimeli followed with appearances in 2010 and 2011.
