Islanders Unveil 2021 Softball Schedule

January 14, 2021

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – A 54-game regular season schedule was released Thursday by the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball program, announced by head coach Kristen Zaleski.

The schedule includes tournaments at Texas A&M, North Texas, UTSA and UT Arlington, followed by a 27-game Southland Conference slate. The Islanders will also travel to Texas on March 10.

"We certainly will challenge ourselves right out of the gate with four tournaments on the road the first four weekends and only one home game the entire first month. We are scheduled against some tough teams and are ready to just get back on the field playing games," Zaleski said. "We know we need to be prepared to handle adversity and understand that schedules may change last minute. We will look to be successful whatever the situation may be."

The season begins Feb. 12 at the Texas A&M Tournament. A&M-Corpus Christi's exact opponents at all of its four non-conference tournaments are still to be announced.

The Islanders will play their home-opener on Feb. 24 when they host Texas Southern at 3 p.m. at Chapman Field.

Conference play begins March 12 when they host Sam Houston for a three-game series. A&M-Corpus Christi will also host McNeese, Stephen F. Austin, Nicholls and Houston Baptist in conference. SLC road trips include series at Lamar, Incarnate Word, Southeastern Louisiana and Abilene Christian.

"Conference is going to be a fight and we have our sights on competing at the conference tournament in the postseason," Zaleski said. "We will use our tough regular season schedule to prepare us for success in May."

The 2021 Southland Conference Championships are scheduled for May 13-15.
