Big first half leads Islanders over SFA, Shaw becomes program leader in coaching wins

Story Headlines
- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi soccer team defeated Stephen F. Austin, 3-0, Friday night in Nacogdoches, Texas
- A&M Corpus Christi improves to 4-5 on the season and 1-1 in conference play. The Jacks move to 3-6 and 0-2 in the Southland Conference. 
- With tonight's win, head coach Craig Shaw is now the all-time program leader in coaching wins with 15.
- Friday's contest marks Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's first win in program history over SFA. 
- All three of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's goals came in the first half. 

Key Islander Statistics
- Abby Deakin led the Islanders with two goals in the first half, followed by a goal from Kayla Gove. 
- Deakin scored the first two goals of the match. In the 10th minute she placed a shot in the lower half of the net with an assist from Addison Urbanus.
- In the 19th minute, Deakin took a pass from Emma Gibbs to give Texas A&M-Corpus Christi a 2-0 lead. 
- Kayla Gove made it 3-0 in the 35th minute on a goal with an assist from Jaedyn Johnson. 
- Tonight's match marks the second time this season that Deakin has collected two goals in one game. The last came in a 5-0 win over Texas Southern on September 6. 
- As a team, the Islanders recorded nine shots on goal compared to the Jacks' six. 
- Deakin and Hilsabeck led the team with three shots taken apiece. 
- Gove and Larissa Fagundes collected two shots each in the match, with Fagundes putting two on frame. 
- Gibbs, Dana Curtis, Reaghan Lang and Johnson each recorded a shot as well. 
- Urbanus, Gibbs and Johnson each collected an assist in the match. 
- Kyleigh Hall made six saves in goal for her fourth shutout of the season.  
- This was the 13th shutout under Craig Shaw since he took over in 2017.
