Soccer defeats Incarnate Word on penalty kicks, advance to conference semifinals

Story Headlines
- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi soccer team defeated No. 4 seed University of the Incarnate Word on penalty kicks, 4-2, in the quarterfinals of the Southland Conference Tournament on Wednesday night in Conway, Ark. 
- With the win, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi advances to the tournament semifinals for the first time in program history. 
- Abby Deakin opened the scoring for A&M-Corpus Christi with a goal in the 10th minute of the first half. Deakin's ninth goal of 2019 also set a new program record for goals scored in a single season. 
- Dana Curtis followed in the opening minutes of the second half with a goal in the 50th minute off the assist from Deakin, giving the Islanders a 2-0 lead. 
- After UIW's two late second half goals, the Islanders and Cardinals played to a double overtime draw at 2-2. 
- A&M University-Corpus Christi would defeat UIW on penalty kicks 4-2 to advance to Friday's semifinals against top seeded Lamar.

- Both Deakin and Curtis led the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi offense with a goal each. Deakin also collected an assist.
