CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas- Texas A&M Corpus Christi Softball team cracked open this weekends Southland Series against Southeastern Louisiana, in a doubleheader competition today here on Chapman Field. The Blue and Green were pulled away the victory, however, losing both matches (5-17) & (2-16) facing the Lady Lions.
Game One
TAMU-CC came out swinging from the dugout, as they were able to construct a 2-0 lead early in the first. Freshman catcher
Kaylee Hoppens knocked on the sheet late in the first, doubling down the right-field line and bringing in Junior outfielder's
Keagan Helson and
Kayla Sheridan for a pair of RBI. Southeastern were quick to respond, as they were able to obtain two unearned runs from an Islanders fielding error early in the second inning. The Lady Lions took the lead at the top of the third with two more following runs from a single and double down center field; score now being 4-2. Not shying away from the challenge, Junior infielder

SLU were able to regain the lead early in the fourth inning, after a double to center field that brought in two runners; Islanders now trailing 6-5. The Lady Lions stretched the final score 17-5, with only an RBI count of 5 and the remaining 7 runs being ran in from the Blue and Green's errors in the fifth and sixth inning.

Not allowing the previous game to hinder their upcoming performance in today's second competition, the Islanders pitching staff tried to set the tone early in the game against the Lady Lions. Kaylon Dunn for a single RBI. The Lady Lions pitching staff held the Islanders to only 4 hits for the remainder of the game as they extended the final score 16-2.

The Islanders close out this Southland Series tomorrow at 12 p.m. here on Chapman Field. The Blue and Gree will then travel to
Natchitoches, La., where they will face Northwestern in a Southland Series on March 23rd and 24th. Series opener slating off on Friday at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., while the concluding contest begins at 1 p.m.
