Islanders Fall to Tough Texas Team

AUSTIN, Texas - Traveling to the University of Texas, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi fell 8-0 in four and a half innings to the Longhorns this Wednesday with junior Ashley Smith earning the start for the Blue and Green on the mound.

Corpus Christi's pitching staff would hold UT to nine hits on the night, but a big first inning for the hosting Longhorns put the Blue and Green behind the eight ball early. 

With Kaylee Hoppens and Destiney Diaz recording a knock on the scoresheet, the Islanders were held to a pair of hits on the evening, while drawing a walk. Junior Kaylon Dunn picked up her fifth stolen base of the year during the fourth frame, as the Blue and Green hitters would leave four runners on base during their time in Austin.

COMING UP NEXT
The Blue and Green head to Houston for the Houston Invitational. Corpus Christi faces Mississippi Valley State Friday at 1 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. before playing University of Houston at 3 p.m. On Sunday, the Islanders play Southern at 12:30 pm and University of Houston for the second time at 3 p.m.
