56 Islanders Make Fall SLC Honor Roll

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes within the conference that have excelled and maintained a high-level of achievement in the classroom, in concordance with their work on the playing field as well. The fall honor roll recognizes all soccer, cross country, football and volleyball student-athletes in the SLC that have maintained a GPA of 3.00 or higher during their season of competition. 

This semester's honor roll recognizes 56 Islanders in all, including 26 soccer players, 17 cross country runners and 13 volleyball athletes. 23 Blue and Green freshman earn academic honors in their first semester since coming to the Island, while 10 seniors receive the designation.

"We are very honored and pleased to see so many Southland Conference student-athletes continue to succeed academically," league Commissioner Tom Burnett said. "The Southland and its member institutions are focused on the academic and competitive well-being of these individuals as the work toward graduation and lifelong success."

11 Islander student-athletes earned 4.00 GPAs during this past fall semester, with four players earning Southland Conference First Team All-Academic honors. 46 Islander student-athletes earned their degree in the year 2017, 14 of which were handed their diploma just this past December.
