AUSTIN, Texas – After
Vinnie Van Puyvelde opened the meet for the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi track & field program at the 90th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, presented by Spectrum, with a 12th-place finish in the 1,500-meter run on Thursday night, the remainder of the Islanders' squad competed in events on the third day of the meet on Friday.
Sashane Hanson provided the top performance on the day for the Blue and Green, tying the school record in the high jump at 1.75 meters. The Jamaican international reached the podium for the ninth straight meet by placing second in Austin.
Chloe Young won her heat in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.43 second, the fourth fastest time in program history, as she placed 42nd.
Kendall Rodriguez also competed in the 100-meter hurdles, taking 76th. The Burleson native notched a time of 1:05.84 in the 400-meter hurdles on Thursday night, while
Savanna Steakley timed in at 1:08.07.
In the 100-meter dash,
Ebony Collins sprinted to the line in 11.93 seconds in 56th-place, while
Mikayla Roell set a personal best at 12.19 seconds.
Ben Clark's 15.66-meter heave in the shot put ranked fifth in the school record books, leading to an 11th-place finish.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team of
Will Maraggia,
Tristan McNeal,
Jaran Cadena and
Terrion Spivey set its best time of the season on Friday at 3:15.65.
On Saturday morning, the 4x800-meter relay squad of Maraggia, McNeal, Cadena and
Dominic Baptiste placed fifth with the third fastest time in program history at 7:39.63.
