HOUSTON – School records, event wins and personal bests highlighted the day for the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi track & field program at the Cougar Spring Break Invitational, hosted by the University of Houston.

Diamond Thomas,
Sashane Hanson and
Chloe Young set four program records on Thursday.
For Clark, his second round heave of 16.72 meters earned in the shot put the Spring Branch, Texas, native his third top-five finish of the 2017 season, coming in fourth. The throw broke the broke an eight-year mark by seven centimeters.
Diamond Thomas had herself a day in Houston. On her second throw in the discus, Thomas' launch landed 46.60 meters down range to etch her name at the top of the Islanders record book by over a meter. In addition to finishing third in the discus, Thomas finished fifth in the shot put and eighth in the hammer.
Chloe Young carried over her record-breaking performances from indoor season. After setting the school mark in the 60-meter hurdles four times during indoor, Young eclipsed the program record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.29, as she finished sixth in race.
Sashane Hanson finished her fourth straight meet on the top of the leaderboard in the high jump. The Jamaican international cleared the 1.75-meter bar to set the school record and tie for first with Texas States' Chelsie Decoud.
Continuing the Islanders' dominance in the high jump,
Zhafear Ray took home his third consecutive win in the high jump, jumping over the 2.03-meter bar.
Ebony Collins placed third in the 100-meter dash with her 11.86. The time marked the fastest the San Antonio native has run this early in a season.

Logan Robinson added third-place points in the javelin with a mark of 49.60 meters.
The Islanders will split up for the next two meets, as part of the team will travel to San Antonio on March 23-25 for the Roadrunner Invitational, while another part of the program will head to Houston for the Victor Lopez Classic, hosted by Rice.
