HOUSTON – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi track & field program capped the two-day Houston Invitational on Saturday afternoon, as
Sashane Hanson led the way with her first win of the season in the high jump.
The Jamaican international cleared the bar set at 1.75 meters on her first attempt to beat Nekiesha Bailey of Prairie View A&M, who missed on her first jump at that height. The win was the fourth win of her career.
Chloe Young broke the program record in the 60-meter hurdles for the second consecutive day with her 8.92 in the semis. She would eventually finish sixth in the finals.
Angelo Garland's 50.25 in the 400-meter dash earned the native of the Turks and Caicos Islands a podium spot in third.
Jan Anstett put in his first top-five performance of the year in the mile with his time of 4:21.76.
Zhafear Ray cleared the two-meter bar in the high jump to pick up a seventh-place finish. Caesar Gonzalez posted his second straight top-10 finish, as he crossed the line in ninth in the 3,000-meter run.
Jordan Wright finished two spots behind Gonzalez.

HEADING UP TO FRISCO
The Islanders will not compete again until Feb. 9 and 10 at the Dunamis Sports Group Collegiate Challenge in Frisco, Texas.
