CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Lee Scott announced an addition to the Islanders Athletics Department on Tuesday, bringing in Nicole Brown as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Brown comes to the Island following a two-year stint as Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach as Eastern Illinois University. With the Panthers she designed and implemented programs for women's volleyball, women's soccer, men's and women's swimming and men's and women's tennis.
"I'm excited to join the Islanders team and work with these incredible student-athletes," Brown said. "I want to say thank you to Coach Scott for opening up this opportunity and allowing me to join his program. I'm looking forward to working with Coach Scott and helping him execute his vision for elevating the strength and conditioning program for the Islanders."
Prior to her time at Eastern Illinois, Brown spent two years working as a strength and conditioning intern at Brown University and the College of the Holy Cross. She also has experience as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor at Springfield College.
Brown got her start in the field as a physical fitness trainer, logistics specialist and recruiter for the United States Army. From 2004 to 2012 she was responsible for administering fitness testing to over 80 soldiers with a performance readiness rating of 90 percent.
"We're excited to have Nicole Brown join the Islander Family and our strength and conditioning department," Scott said. "Her experience in both collegiate athletics and as a member of our military will be invaluable to the development of our student-athletes. Her enthusiasm and passion to serving our student-athletes is already evident in her work since arriving."
An NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Brown is CPR, AED and First Aid certified. U.S. Army Noncommissioned Officer Decorations and Medals include; Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service and Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal and three-time Army Commendation Medal Recipient.
Brown earned her Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in applied exercise science from Springfield College in 2014. She also received her Master of Science in Kinesiology and Sport Administration from Eastern Illinois in 2016.
