MCALLEN, Texas – After a day of wet and windy conditions at the UTRGV Invitational, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf team wrapped the final round of play in fifth place (326-304-322—952). All five Islanders placed in the top-25 for the first time all season.

Senior Vanessa Johnson capped her tournament at 21-over (78-74-82—234), just missing out on her third top-10 of the year after tying for 11th.
The Islanders were led in the final round by Dani Bergmann's 8-over, 79, as the German international finished the event in 18th place with a 240 (81-80-79). Ana Paredes (85-75-81) followed one shot back in a tie for 19th position.
Julia Dereniwsky (83-78-81) and Michelle Grilliette (84-77-81) matched each other after 54 holes of golf with a 242. The sophomore and freshman tied for 25th.
Lamar (310-297-312—919) held onto its start-to-finish lead to take the team honors, while Wichita State (317-294-311—922) and Sam Houston State (332-293-313—938) rounded out the top of the leaderboard.
Nicole Budnik (80-68-73—221) from Sam Houston State built upon the only under-par round of the tournament yesterday to take medalist honors at 8-over par.

The Islanders will have two weeks off before traveling to Hoover, Ala., for the Samford Women's Intercollegiate on March 21.
