CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball senior Bryce Douvier has been named Second Team Academic All-Southland Conference for the second straight year, the league announced Tuesday.

Douvier, who played two seasons with the Islanders, earned the honors from the Southland Conference in both 2014-15 and 2015-16. He holds a 3.43 cumulative GPA while majoring in communication at the University.
It's the second straight honor for Douvier, but it's the third straight year an Islander received the accolades as Jake Kocher was named to the Academic All-Southland Team in 2013-14. In all, five Islanders have garnered the honors, four coming under the leadership of head coach Willis Wilson.
Douvier stepped his game up on the court as a senior, scoring 10.2 points and grabbing 6.7 rebounds per game in 2015-16. The Sedgwick, Kan., native finished the year fifth in the Southland in rebounding and ninth in the league with three double-doubles.
In just two seasons with the Islanders, Douvier put his name in the record books eight times. He finished his career sixth all-time with a .396 three-point shooting percentage, fourth with a .797 free throw shooting percentage, and ninth with 417 career rebounds.
While on the Island, Douvier helped lead A&M-Corpus Christi to back-to-back 20-win seasons and a pair of postseason appearances. In 2015-16, the Blue and Green finished 25-8 overall and 15-3 in Southland Conference play. The 25 wins were the second most ever, trailing only the 2006-07 championship team's 26, while the 15 league wins marked the most ever.
The team advanced to the Southland Conference Championship game for the first time since 2007 and just the second time ever. The Islanders advanced to postseason play for the third straight season, accepting an invitation to the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament.
